what we believe + how we work

We help clients clearly articulate their values and fully activate their missions.

We firmly believe that knowing what to do starts with knowing who you are, so we begin with foundational truths and bedrock values—your mission and methods, your whats and whys. Our programs feel personal, authentic, and inspiring to each client, starting with discovery and analysis processes that go deeper than data and create real human connections.

“What makes Crane + Peters awesome is their human-centered process. That’s what stood out to me and what I describe to others when talking about our experience. The discovery process was like a lovely intervention in and of itself for our community.”

our mission as metaphor

For more than 25 years, an origami bird has been our symbol and guide. Our paper crane emerges from a simple, single sheet. No cutting or gluing. No appliqued wings or painted eyes. Everything required is already in the paper itself, and the task is to draw forward the character and beauty that already exist within.

We take the same attentive, respectful approach with our clients. We begin with your history and culture, existing strengths, and core missions. Then, we work with you to reveal, honor, and claim the differentiators, distinctions, drive, and direction that have been there all along.

  • Founded in 1996 by Patti Crane and led by Shelly W. Peters since 2017, C+P combines more than 25 years of know-how with a daily commitment to anticipating what’s next.

  • We map the places where people, programs, problems, and possibilities meet, then help clients see these connections more clearly.

  • The best strategies are rooted in rigor and reality—and driven by daring and dreams.

  • When the stories you tell are true, they become a beacon for those who share your values, value your strengths, and strengthen your mission.

  • There’s a story of inspiration and impact that only your organization can write. But first, it’s important to get everyone on the same page.

doing right by those who do good

“Our clients solve big problems, meet pressing needs, impact lives, and change the world.

We know that our best work serves their good works, and for us, that raises the bar on authenticity, efficacy, and ethics.”

–Shelly W. Peters, C+P Principal
